Question addressed to the Mods

Capt'n. ChumbucketCapt'n. Chumbucket Posts: 1,366 Officer
As we are realizing (more and more) it is the final judgement of the mods to delete or relocate a post at their discretion. My question is where do you get the authority or the lack of civility to cast your judgement without so much as a notification to the poster?
I started a legitimate thread with the subject of what happened to another member to cause his banishment. You may think that this was to cause turmoil or fan the flames. But did you ever think that it may have been used to inform others of what was the "over the line" point so they would not cross it? Had you had the decency to address the matter instead of displaying the image of hiding behind the Mod Curtain you may have given off the impression of caring. Although some of you go around with a god-like impression of themselves, you are far from it. Even God let others know why/what they did wrong. With all the forums perhaps we should add a Purgatory and Hell section. That way you can play archangel and allow us lowlifes to visit the damned if we wish. I had my say and would like for the Mod that deleted my post to be man enough to address this on this thread.
Thank you

I dont think you can "PING D E E P" that way, they frown upon calling out individual mods

oh, well, you didnt really call him out by name, but we all know it was him. :nono

Wasn't me but I don't get where it takes being "manly" to do anything over a keyboard. A few things that always(or are supposed to be) moved are threads about banned members, deleted threads, words or photos that aren't allowed. If you really have concern about why a member was banned I think asklng a Mod. by email or PM would most likely get you an answer. I try to always send a PM.

After going Full Calusa yesterday, I finally got my IM. It was a case of distraction, for which the mod graciously apologized.

Mullet, Todays electronic wizardry is absolutely incredible. Was not five minutes after I posted this thread that the Mod that pulled the thread in question sent me a IM (please do not refer to them as PM cuz we know there not). Had this thread been started do you really think he would have sent the notification or reason (not that a reason was given). I doubt if it crossed paths in the internet due to my sloth like typing skills.
On the other hand you did supply a reason. Can you now post a location that the general membership can use to navigate these rules. I was aware about the bad language, naughty photos, but I was unawre that theads about past/banned members was cause for thead deletion.
Since the advent of the "new" forum I have yet to see the new rules.
Oh, BTW, thank you for nuttin' up to address this issue in the open. Like you said you don't have to be manly. If you would pass it along to your commarade.

They are as far as I, and any other Moderator is concerned. That's a fact. I guess someone in an admin. level may have access but have never asked to be honest.

Seems like FLS has quite a few issues that could be easily fixed

I started a legitimate thread with the subject of what happened to another member to cause his banishment.

On most forums posting threads about banned members, deleted threads, etc is not allowed.

yes, but banning all its members might not be the right way to go about it

Capn Chum, I don't want to derail Mullets posts but I don't see where spin was placed in band camp. :shrug

At this time I believe we have different opinions on the "privacy" of the IM/PM's.
If the link that Grandrfab posted is correct for the rules I failed to notice about discussions of banned member. However, "As always, we reserve the right to edit or remove any thread or post deemed inappropriate by FS." seems to cover anything that may go through the cracks.

If you think moderators can view IM's you're simply wrong. I guess maybe they secretly omitted me from the list of people with this ability. BRB, i'm calling Griz.

    What did Spin do...
...to earn himself a time out?
    From your thread in question.

Is there am actual page we can go to to see who has been banned?
  • GermGerm Posts: 1,704 Captain
If its like the other forums I admined on, no. Pretty much the only ppl that could even look at IMs or PMs are those with database rights and even then I was told by a friend who ran a very large local car site its not as easy as just opening up a window and browsing thru. He said he could find stuff but only did so if the local police had a warrant or requested to do so.

Sounds like y'all need a sub-forum for complaints.

It could be under Sportsmans Kitchen> Food> Wine.:grin

btw whatever happened to just a mod locking a thread with a reason and calling it good? This pertains to pretty much any forum these days. Seems the norm now is to lock/move thread from public view or delete.

    M-Man,
Are you defying the rules? Posting part of a deleted thread? Yes I did ask that question but since DEEP deleted it I thought it was non-existing (imagine my surprise). As far as who sees what, behind the magic curtain, it was a few weeks back that a member sent another member a IM, only to have it surface from (and I can be wrong here) a Mod. Oh, the fun that ensued. I'm sure someone with more computer savy than myself can pull it back up if need be.
Can you guys see everything behind the magic curtain? I don't know. but the circumstanial evidence points in that direction, to me atleast, since you were able to post from a deleted thread.

Do that. I'm not familiar and need the evidence when I ask griz for equal rights.

I think he's refering to the thread where Flash called out PointerDixie on why he resigned saying PD told two different stories.

That thread would of course be in the dumpster.
