Jennifer's MTB Video

pointerDixie214pointerDixie214 Posts: 5,658 Admiral
Last Sunday I went riding and Jennifer was actually able to make it out too.... had a great time.

She's been off the bike due to work and injury since December, so we decided to go somewhere easier than normal... turns out this trail reminds me a lot of Ridgeline at Boyette, just with slightly different scenery. It's similar in that it's a lot of quick ups and downs. Still more climbing than Ridgeline, with 800 feet over the 15 mile trail, but about a third what our trails typically have here.

    Good stuff!

What type of shoes do you guys wear for that? Special biking shoes or hikers?

HA. Thanks! Russ. I almost have your GoPro sticky thing ready to ship out... Just been collecting a beer from each of my six packs to send with the base. ;)

JesseJames- We both ride in mountain biking shoes, but shoes designed for riding and hiking...

These are the ones I use:

You should be proud, I love the way she hucks at 2:44.

But, Ridgeline seems to me to be much faster with more short climbs and very steep drops, followed by another short climb, and drop, over and over. That seems more like longer climbs and longer steady drops. but than again, Mrs. Twisted swears she won't try it.

Oh, and don't forget, we have these things here called roots that change the game. :)

Nice job though, nothing I love more than a pretty girl on a MTB.

Just one week 'till I load up the Jeep and take the bikes to Tennessee, then i will cry about the climbs.

Thanks! Yeah, like I said, not exactly like Ridgeline... but this is the closest we have. lol This is the only place I have ridden here where the average climb/downhill was measured in feet, not miles.

I would, however, take Ridgelines roots over these rocks anyday. At least the dang roots don't have give to them, and are located the same place everytime. Jennifer rode Ridgeline a few times, but that was before the days of my GoPro.

Where in TN? There's some great riding there.

Just outside of Nashville, plan is Montgomery Bell State Park, Fairview park, Lock 4, Edwin and Percy Warner parks, and a secret trail behind a big church in Bellevue.

Nice! I have ridden Montgomery Bell and Lock 4. Both pretty sweet. After riding Lock 4 you'll get an idea of what I mean about rocks. Just imagine that one section for 20 miles. :grin

The Mrs. and I spent four days at The Inn at Monty Bell, had a great time, looking forward to Lock 4, and I plan on working on my long climbs on the path at Warner Park, though they don't really have MTB trails, but they do have a great green way that I can run or ride to from my in-laws house.

The plan is to watch the pie hole, run or ride every day, and get down to my race weight for summer. But Nashville food is the devill.

Just got back from Alafia an hour ago, great day to ride.

Might be different with climbs... might not though. lol

    Where in NC?

NC and TN both have some great riding. I rode another trail in Nashville, but I forget what it was called. Henderson or something or other...

Does MTB have formal racing, competitions etc.?

Menzie, google up the Leadville 100. Many, many races out there.

Then let's have this moved to sports, we do need to be consistent right?

    Is there a mod around?

Well, there's also competitive cooking, dog competitions, bikini contests, etc. Basically, other than coldie's grim reaper threads, there's a competition for almost everything. OT would be pretty slow without all those other things posted in it. I think the Sports Section should be reserved for the popular team oriented sports that incite passionate dialogue, not something like this.

You don't think biking is popular?

And team sports? So posting a Masters thread is going to be OK, maybe boxing...

Have you seen people on the forum going back and forth arguing over who the best mountain biker is, with multiple threads, week after week? That's my feeling, and quite frankly, I just don't care. Outside of Nascar, baseball, football, basketball and hockey, I think it's fine.

So that's the definition of what goes into sports! I was wondering.

    Good to know.

I'll get a Masters thread going, its going to be great this year between Rory and Tiger.

My interpretation means nothing. Start whatever you want...

    Golf = Game.

Post it in OT all day as far as I am concerned since it ain't a sport. :grin
