Body cavity search the 92 year old and 4 year olds and let this guyt through. Wow!

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A man charged with stowing away on a flight from New York to Los Angeles last Friday cleared airport security screening, the Transportation Security Administration confirmed on Thursday.

"Every passenger that passes through security checkpoints is subject to many layers of security including thorough physical screening at the checkpoint," said TSA spokesperson Greg Soule in a statement.

Los Angeles International Airport "TSA's review of this matter indicates that the passenger went through screening."

Olajide Olewaseun Noibi was taken into custody in Los Angeles after trying to board another flight with an illegitimate boarding pass on Wednesday, authorities said.

An FBI spokeswoman in Los Angeles confirmed Noibi is a dual citizen of the United States and Nigeria and that he was born in the United States.

On Friday he had stowed away on a Virgin America flight from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport to Los Angeles, according to an FBI affidavit.

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer and an FBI agent were present at Los Angeles International Airport when Noibi attempted to board a Delta Airlines Flight to Atlanta on Wednesday morning.

A Delta agent refused Noibi's boarding pass multiple times, saying the ticket was from the day prior, according to the FBI.

Noibi allegedly told the FBI he did not pay for the Virgin America flight from New York to Los Angeles, which he said he took to recruit people for his software business.

The FBI had been notified on Saturday by a dispatcher from Los Angeles Airports Police and the captain of the flight that Noibi had boarded the Friday Virgin flight.

He was discovered mid-flight in a cabin seat after a flight attendant was told by other passengers the seat was supposed to be empty. FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller added that the passengers initially complained about Noibi's strong body odor.

When Noibi was asked for his boarding pass, he produced a pass and ticket for the day prior and not in his name. He was also not on the flight manifest.

After initially hesitating, Noibi produced true identification to the flight crew, the affidavit said.

Noibi was released on Saturday pending further investigation after federal agents who interviewed him and searched his baggage determined he was not a physical threat.

When the FBI questioned Noibi on Wednesday, they found over 10 boarding passes in his possession, none in his name, the affidavit said.

The proper holder of the Virgin boarding pass told the FBI he lost it from his back pocket on the subway to JFK and does not know Noibi.

Noibi has been formally charged with being a stowaway.

Stowing away on a flight is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison.

Noibi told the FBI he was able to go through screening with the boarding pass, his University of Michigan identification and a police report that his passport had been stolen.

    We can't stereotype, remember.

92 year olds and 4 year olds aren't stereotyping.

That's impressive. Where's that TSA guy to talk about this one?

On another note, I was traveling to the Keys last month. Come to find out, my drivers liscense was expired by a month or so. So here's the deal. I get through all the checks getting to FL. I don't have any trouble with a rental care either. Trying to leave, the Frontier lady informs me it's expired. So, I need another form of ID.

My repsonse, it's still me, just means it's an issue of driving a car, not that I'm a different or non person at this point. She doesn't care and won't give me my boarding pass. Says TSA won't honor it either. So much for common sense or the ability to actually think.

Since I didn't have my passport with me, I gave her my concealed weapons permit. Good to go. Gave it to the TSA guy as well who was a serious Richard Head but gave me less grief than my brother who had a valid DL.

Close to 2 million air travelers in the US per day.. They didn't get the ID/ticket match on one. Hmmmm

The number screened sure could be cut in 1/2 if they allowed profiling.

First. Yes the ticket issue was missed by a TSA person. Shouldn't happen but it could. But, he still went through security. And that is more important than matching up dates and names. Why not get onto the airline that allowed him to board with a bad ticket? And supposed to be an empty seat and they didnt catch it. What about the amount booked for the flight? They didn't get that either. No, jump on the TSA, it's easier. And for the expired license, TSA will accept it up to one year expired.

OK, here's the deal and this isn't about you personally. I know everyone has a job to do. The problem as I see it based on my experience and your response is that it's very easy to place blame somewhere else.

At the onset, I coudn't even get a boarding pass because of the liscense issue. That was all predicated on TSA not accepting it. I believe you in terms of the 1 year issue. That is rational and makes sense. Apparently, this airline clerk had no clue. So as a traveler, you're pretty much SOL. However, I do understand it's my responsibility to have a valid DL to drive a vehicle but that's a different issue as you know.

So, here's the real question. We've been at this for awhile. It's meant to be a cooperative/team issue. In that regard, one side or element drops the ball, someone else is charged with catching it. It's all about layers of security. That's the whole point.

At the end of the day, who is really the last line of defense? Whose authority trumps all others? I ask this in all honesty.

Our main mission is screening everyone going into the gates area. This person was screened as far as having anything with him. But he managed a free flight. Not really a big issue for TSA. As far as the airlines not knowing policy, all I can say is that they should know. They have our same regs. But sometimes maybe you get a new person, or one forgets, or whatever that persons reasons were, I couldnt say. But if you look up on the websites, the info is there. If someone gives you anything different, just ask for a supervisor.

I thought that your main mission was to prevent bad guys from getting on planes so they could fly them into buildings and kill people and stuff.

I got the TSA's back on this one. I personally dont want no old lady or child sitting anywhere near me for any time period if they are carrying a hot load in their diaper. Plus the old lady was on the Today show and said she had absolutely no problem with the TSA search. She said they were just doing there job and trying to protect the public. She also said they were nice to her and didnt do anything that made her feel to uncomfortable. She said she is really "to old to care". It's her relatives who are trying to make a big deal out of it.

As far as the other dude getting a free ride and no one noticing. It doesnt surprise me. Everytime I go through security the TSA agents ask for your boarding pass and ID. Normally they only look to make sure the picture on the ID is you and then hand them back. I think most of them just assume if you have a boarding pass your good. They dont even really look at it. And now with boarding passes being printable at home and even e-passes that you just keep on your phone or tablet I sure tracking them is even harder. This guy had a real boarding pass it was just a day old and used already so it had to look legit. They just didnt read it. And if you've ever been through Atlanta International then you know reading, spelling and even speaking arent TSA's strong points.

I beg to differ, most TSA make an initial or mark near the date on pass

they usually, and I repeat usually, take a hard look at it

OBVIOUSLY someone was wanting to be still at home asleep in this idiots case

Yeah they do usually initial the boarding passes but that doesnt mean they really looked at it. 90% of the time the agents are usually BS'ing with the agents working the x-rays machines or the person standing next to them. Dont get me wrong, I like what their doing but I dont have any faith that they are doing it 100% right.

That brings up a good point though, how do they initial an e-pass now? I would be so pissed if someone wrote on my smartphone or iPad.
