Deffinately a cool story, I hope it lasts a lifetime, but if you ever do have any future issues you won't have to go very far to file a complaint.

"Hindle and a team at Exactech, the Gainesville-based orthopaedic implant manufacturing company, had been working on the new Optetrak Logic, a knee implant that is made out of cobalt chrome instead of titanium and comes in three different sizes.

I was back to work in 4 weeks, I used a walker for 3 days. The expected life is 15-20 years then it will hopefully just be a replacement of the poly piece inbetween the femoral and the tibia tray. It feels somewhat like my knee, but it still has the newness feel to it. So, the answer to Orange'n'Blue Snappers question it is not metal on metal there is a poly insert. I think that if you can't change the oil or grease it, then you shouldn't have metal on metal.

Good deal. My Aunt almost died from Cobalt Chrome metal poisoning from the DePuy hip. Her doctors had to remove a couple pounds of flesh from around her hip because it basically was either dead or loaded full of microscopic metal shavings and not salvageable. She was in ICU for a couple weeks and even after a year with a new, different, hip she's still in rehab becasue of the muscle loss, scar tissue and other stuff that got tore up for the couple months she had the DePuy hip.

On a sidenote Exactech is an awesome company. We built the original facility and have been doing alot of renovations over the last couple years for them. They are right down the street from my office. They are one of the few companies who can still make money in todays economy. You work for a great company man.
