My Dad bought several of these at a government auction in the early '70s. He said he was told they were hydraulic motors that controlled something (he can't remember what) on military aircraft. He said the government originally paid $25k for them. I have moved them around my shop for 30 years. I decided to see if I can find out what they are or were for and if they have any value.
Here are some photos.

It's an electric drive hydraulic pump. I'm sure somewhat valuable, if nothing else than sheer metal value. Not sure who needs a big electric hydraulic motor.
I did not read the story but if you take tax payers money maybe you should be held to some standards.-Cyclist

It's a hydraulic pump that controls something. Do you have something that needs controlling with a hydraulic pump? If you don't, you don't need it taking up space your other junk needs to occupy.

When you Google The New York Air Brake company, they make brakes for trains, hydraulic pumps for fighter aircraft, and other military hardware. Guess you could e-mail NYAB. http://www.nyab.com/en/_meta/contact/contactform.jsp
It is not the responsibility of the United States to solve the problems of other countries.
It's a Variable Wing Sweep Actuator for a General Dynamics F-111B. The Navy wanted to replace the F-4 and the 1B was going to be the ticket. Unfortunately, Grumman showed the swabbies a better bird, the F-14 Tomcat (which was a beefed-up (and some say stolen version of the MD-15)
When you Toogle Fantasy break speed acuator this is what you get :
When you google cream pie you don't just get recipes for a baked pastry treat! The take home message here is to be very careful what you type into that box. Google is a very tricky thing to deal with, my friend! It has it's ways of surprising you when you least expect it!
"Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. Amen."
In 1945, New York Air Brake again returned to aiding the United States' war effort in World War II. Up until the end of the war, NYAB became a producer of tank hulls for the Sherman tank, anti-aircraft shells, automatic pilots for aircraft, breech mechanisms for guns, hydraulic pumps for fighter aircraft, and other military hardware and had over 5,000 employees contributing to the war effort in the war-torn Europe by the end of 1944.
By the end of the Second World War, New York Air Brake had expanded its product line to include hydraulic aircraft pumps. In 1949, the company furthered its market reach with the purchase of the Hydraulic Equipment Company Dudco Products Company. As a result, sales leapt from $18 million in 1950 to more than $45 million in 1957
from an aircraft mechanic.. it is an aux pump for the hydraulic system, on the ground with no engines on to supply hydraulics this converts electrical power to hydraulic power. It can be used in the air as a back up if engine power was lost, God help them.

How do they generate electricity in the air for such big motors?
