Blair posted a subject about the forum in OT and with some great suggestions and questions. As of now since he posted that subject is up to 1,228 replies by members and Blair has yet to respond to one question or suggestion mentioned. I would guess 95% of us would all agree and go back to a simple forum format. Not 300 sub sections. A general fishing, boating, paddle craft, and regions. In the regions a fishing reports section and general fishing section.

Blair:

The OT thread I posted was a direction we hoped to move the tone of OT towards and our team of mods is working on making it happen.

As for the request for a simplier forum, fewer choices, I'm not sure that's the answer. As I've stated before on here our least active regions today are due to former members leaving our two section sites for boards with far more sections, far more activity. Where this happened our sections are still slow, their sites with many more sections than we have, continue to be strong. Staying with one or two sections per region doesn't look like the answer for a strong community.

We're listening and working hard to bring you a community that you can be proud of.

Thanks for hanging in there.

Complicated is even lesser of an answer. But a few more clicks is not necessarily complicated.

Yes, it does. I suspect this community is getting weaker all the time. If it is, I'm sure it's not because we have too few "choices."

I liked the old style too. 2 subs per region, and a few general sections.

Yes, I'm on other forums with multiple subsections... but those forums are all focused on a topic. So, multiple sub-sections work.

    We didn't need that here.

Did the forums with lots of sections and sub-forums start out that way or were they developed as traffic increased and specific needs arose? Which came first, the chicken or the egg? I say start out with the basics and build it as you need it.

The old fly boy is 100% correct.
I can tell you for a fact that participation in the West Central section is way waaaaay down.
THERE SHOULD BE NO COMMERCIAL FISHING ALLOWED FOR ANY SPECIES THAT IS CONSIDERED OVERFISHED.

When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work, because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation!

If some of you would put as much energy and effort into posting positive content as you do *****ing about the forum, this place would be alot better overnight. Notwithstanding the DBE's.

Seriously Flatsjunkie, what did your letter to Blair say that hasn't already been said 5,000 times in the last month?

What do you think would happen if after FS Blairs next post he received the same response as he has extended to us on his last post????

Overall, yes. Maybe a couple added sections by request or necessity over time. But even those forums had fewer sections than we have here now.

Basically FS jacked everyone up to during real-estate boom. Look at the South West Section its dead. This is some of the most pristine angling of its kind, guides all sorts or professional and avid anglers used to get involved show us the secrets do business do charity work. But no it’s not FS’s fault. This is just my opinion of course. Now the whole web site is design for FS to make money and track information. They forgot who fills the content of this site. They really must be that arrogant. So they are either selling the magazine or something’s up. Business people cannot be that stupid to NOT listen to the VERY people WHO are Florida 'Sportsman. But there more worried about Joe in Wisconsin reading my detailed fishing report with pics report for free.

Until they crash/migrate/whatever and lose it all again. Then we have to start over again. Don't you see a pattern?
