F.P. inshore 2/28

Called a buddy yesterday to so if he wanted to snook fish the inlet in the morning. I talked to another buddy who said the pilchards starting to show up at his dock, so hopefully I could secure some bait in the morning. Well with 3 throws of the net I had @10dz pilchards, 1dz croakers, couple of pigfish, a pile of big pogies, and it's only 5:10:dance He couldn't meet up with me until @6:30 after he dropped his kid off at the bus stop. So I killed some time trolling the shadow line of the bridges and dropped some baits in the turning basin with nothing to show for the effort. He finally calls, we slide out to the inlet, and drop the hook at our first spot. With the smorgasborg of bait we deploy 3 rods, and the waiting game begins. We're picking a couple of jacks here and there waiting patiently for the target species. Next he bangs a nice black grouper, and I follow with a decent gag. Next bait goes down and he bags a decent overslot snook. I send a pogy down and and get hit by a big red who posed for a photo shoot. He is by far the fattest one I have ever caught considering he was 28.5" with the pinched tail

I just filled my mouth with sunflower seeds hence the "game" face :grin
From there we had a few pulled hooks, a few more jacks, and some bluefish chewing our baits in half. The tide went slack and we hung around for the first 2 hours of the incoming with nothing but jacks. So we slid north up the river to a productive dock to see if we could get a legal red. We ended up picking 9 fish off of it, then called it a day.
