Well, I went out fishing yesturday for the first time in 3 weeks. The weather was great, overcast, light wind, and not too hot. My friend and I fished from about 8am till 1pm. After that the wind picked up and was not able to control my little boat anymore, but the fish were still bitting. We caught about 20 bass. I was killing them on the culprit 7.5" fire and ice (just picked that up from BPS on Sat) rigged up texas style with a 2/0 hook and 1/4oz sinker. I seeing a lot of them chasing bait fish and breaking the top of the water. I tried jigs and topwaters as well but couldn't get even a hit and as soon as I picked up the culprit it was fish on!! Our biggest fish was only about 3.5 lbs. The beds I could see (didn't want to get too close and spook them off) I couldn't see the females and in most cases didn't see any fish on them. Not sure if I would have hooked the bigger one's if I would have fished deeper before getting close to the lilly pads. What was wierd to me is that most of the bass I did catch where grabbing the bait and running. There were times I didn't even feel a bite and as I am working the line back in, I see my line running. I would set the hook and fish on!! Wow! I never had an expierence like that were almost all my fish were running with the bait like that. Very aggressive! Overall great day for fishing and enjoyed every minute!
