Finally putting a decent bend in the new rod

My home waters around Coopers bayou have been very productive this winter, just not many trout over 15" usually. Last week, with the help of some new patterns from **** at Bill Jacksons, My smallest trout were 15". Even pulled in a 18" red I saw tailing:grin

Saw your comment about the **** at Bill jacksons was marked out. What we need in Pinellas county is a good fly shop!

That was supposed to say "****" at bill jacksons. He seems to be pretty active fly fishing, and he was right on with his pattern suggestion. They have a great selection of fly gear.

I think this is that same trout, in the water. He did have a little different pattern to his spots.

So far I'm liking it a lot. The reel has surprised me, I thought the salt and sand would have caused problems with it by now. I use this outfit at least 3x a week(I'm here for the fishing!),don't baby it other than freshwater rinse after each use. It is still working well with smooth, repeatable drag settings.
The rod is keeping me happy too, although I'm not sure if the line or rod is kicking my butt on the windy days.
I can only drive a 25 foot cast right into a strong breeze. I will be replacing the line soon, so that should tell me.
Rod seems to have plenty of backbone for calm days, is sensitive enough for the small trout.
I hate to say it, but the chinese have figured out a pretty good graphite rod and composite reel.
Gotta load the 'yak now and leave my spinning gear behind, again!
