Been stopping by a pond when I get the chance for the last three days. Got pretty distracted there today, definitely need to catch up on some work! But the bass are bedding pretty strong, started out catching some bass around the beds and a few on the beds finessing a fluke. Was seeing some bruisers cruising outside the beds so decided to throw some shiners at them. It seems for the most part that the males are the ones locked on and the females are cruising outside the beds. Got one possible female finessing a fluke on a bed, the others casting shiners outside the bed.
The last fish I caught today was cruising outside the bed but didn't seem interested in eating my shiner or protecting the bed from it and spooking very easily. So I got the presumably male on my ultralight and kept it on the line. The female then started to shadow it, following it everywhere. I ditched my bobber and pitched a shiner at it, luckily got a reaction! That one was 4lb 3oz.
Another 4lb 3oz
And yet another 4lb 3oz
Nope, called my buddy to see if he wanted to fish. He couldnt go was busy installing a new trolling motor but had some wild shiners in a tank that were on their last leg. He casts nets them at a lake, probably the size of two large ponds. #1 on my to do list is to see if i can build a setup on my porch, but i live on the 3rd story of an apartment complex
