Bucket List Orange Cay Bahamas...aka Jurassic Park!

This is a tropical report but I do not know anyone there so I'll post it here.

Will from the Bonnie and Clyde had been talking all year about this epic trip they do every year to Orange cay. 3 days two nights sleeping on the boat, So may fish and so big they basically jump on the boat he says. Now being that Will is not only Cuban but a banker as well, credibility could be in question. :)

Original plan was to leave Saturday and return Monday but windfinder had it kicking up a bit today so we pushed it up Friday to Sunday.

I won't get into too many small details but let's just say Will may be the first banker to ever tell the truth. Crew consisted of Will, Dave (Superdolph), Thom (Fuzzy Details), and non-forum members Jocko and Scott.

Tally:

7 Wahoo to 60 pounds
1 45pd Cubera
1 15pd Red grouper
Yelloweyes
Strawberry grouper
Big FlagTails
Mangroves
Lanes
3 handles of Capt Morgan
6 cases of beer.

Unfortunately Sunday morning we blew a lower unit making a long ride home.

Enjoy the pics:

Yes, please post a few more pics. Did you get any shots of Orange Cay? There isn't much on the internet on Orange. It's even hidden from view on Google Earth. I went many years ago, but was short on time. We hit some yellowtails an then a huge 12ft. plus hammer head started bouncing off the back of the boat eating all of our fish. I hear that there are great coral heads for spearing around, etc. From what I remember it's a pretty lonely piece of water and you had better keep your eyes open for rocks.

How was the protection behind the island? Did you do any slinging? Thanks for the report. I can't wait to get back down there.

we didnt get in the water but i know that area has top be loaded with bugs... it was way to cold to get in the water, plus we didnt have much extra space on the boat for more gear. also, with the amount of sharks around there and the fact that we were 50+miles away from civilization , didnt feel to safe jumping in.

Very cool trip! Been there in the daytime but never stayed the night. Would be interested in where you anchored up, how was the holding etc? Fuel burned?

That must be a new bar that just opened up on Orange?:rotflmao

Might as well bump this to the top.  Wondering if anyone has been fishing and / or diving around Orange lately.  Any good pics of the island would be appreciated.  Other knowledge also, small beach, current, etc. thx.!
