Fishing Panama...Need Help

Gooch23Gooch23 Posts: 155 Deckhand
Planning a trip to Panama in End of May/ early June. Probably gonna have 4 guys on the trip that are willing to fish. Tropic star is out of our budget and we really dont want to be out in a jungle some where for 4 or 5 days. Any suggestions on charters in or around Panama city. Wouldn't mid catching some Tuna, or Wahoo, or even some bottom fishing.

Thanks for the help!

The best fishing in Panama is not near Panama City so for good fishing you need to go out on a mothership for a few days. If you don't want to be out on a live aboard mothership for 5 days then look at going to Costa Rica. Can't go wrong with Los Suenos Resort. http://www.lsrm.com/marina.php I have been there it is really nice.

In Panama I fished with this company staying out on a mothership for 5 days and it was awesome! www.Cebacobay.com
A friend fished with this group and loved it: http://www.pescapanama.com/

X2 what PlanB said. You are going to the wrong country if you want to fish near or out of Panama City. There is some good fishing along the shore in the NW part of the country 30 - 50 miles south of David. I have caught wahoo, yellowfin tuna and other species from shore along this shoreline but you need to know the country and how to do it to be successful.

you definitely do not NEED to fish from some mothership for a few days to catch fish in panama, there are lots of land based operations that can get you into the fish, lots of fish.

are you there on business with some time to fish or going there for a fishing trip? panama city is not the prime destination for a fishing trip. and if budget is a concern i would recommend costa rica because it is much more affordable and the fishing is the same.

    Goonch,

Like all the guys said if you want to catch fish the better option is not Panama City based operations. We have a very nice upscale lodge on Isla Paridas dead in the center of the Gulf of Chiriqui near the city of David. We're only an hour and a half run from Hannibal Bank and Isla Montuosa. Our prices are very reasonable as well. Check out our website at www.FishPanamaToday.com Check our links to our Facebook and Blog for some recent and past years reports. Or hit me up at [email protected] for more info. Thanks and Good Luck. You will love Panama! :thumbsup

Thanks for the help guys. Main purpose of the trip is a bachelor party, and not all of the guys fish. Me and 3 of the guys like to fish, the rest are all going for "the extracurricular" activities that there are to do there. Could I do some Snook fishing near Panama City? It really doesnt have to be offshore.

    Thanks again

Panama sport fishing lodge will have plenty of entertainment for you and great fishing. They have a private pool and columbian women. Perfect for your crew. Oh, we caught 5K lbs of tuna in 5 days fishing out of 4 boats. Stay thirsty my friend.

paradisefishinglodge.com 1-855-Big-Tuna - Fished there last year and highly recomend we left there with blown out back due to all the huge yellowfin. Put it this way, we stoped in 25 ft of water to rooster fish and and all at the same time we caught a huge cubera a 45# Wahoo and 200# shark. Catching 100 -200# Yellowfin on top water poppers was insane. Great crew and Capt. was solid he put us on big YFT the whole time not to much down time. Ask for Chad he's the owner he'll take good care of you.
