One or more of the T-shirts available at Target had images of a horned goat and "Satanic" messages. The products of two companies were involved with the "troublesome" items.
One set were Gay/Trans messages of "tolerance" and/or "inclusion" ( or whatever buzz-words are in vogue ), while others were limited to rainbow designs and other patterns that might or might not have additional meanings, depending on your point of view.
The merchandising choices were as tone-deaf as the product selection. By placing these products in one area, as a "promotion", they stood out, and the corporate brass set themselves up for trouble.
If the items were mixed in with other products, the reaction would not have been so quick or so harsh. Target was rubbing "trans" in the public's face, and the public did not like it. End of story.
