College Spring Break! No greater pleasure than putting a Father and Son on gorgeous fish, making memories!
Mark
and George joined me today and we left at 8:00 sharp to the very beginning of
the outgoing tide. First spot, I explained “my procedures” and
demonstrated a cast, handed the rod off to Mark and BAM, he was hooked up and
landed the biggest Lookdown/Moonfish that I have ever seen. Pictures,
high fives, release and baited up again and the next cast, BAM, Mark had a 27
inch Snook that came to visit. I know Mark wanted “groceries” so for a
fact his pinched tail was at 27 inches on the tape measure…..although his head
might not have been exactly on the beginning of the stick. Guests always
look at the larger numbers, I might have cheated a bit to “save a life”.
Pictures and released. I’m looking pretty impressive at this point, that
is how I like to start my day. It didn’t take long and George literally
pulled a Snookasaurus out from under a dock in a professional fashion.
Sadly, this one was too big to cheat him down, he measured out at 30 inches and
took an icey bath, more commonly called tomorrow nights dinner. We moved
around and caught the suspected bait steelers, Snapper, Puffer/Blow Fish, and a
few Sand Perch. I usually don’t prospect with guests aboard, although we
tried a new area without success, but while pulling out I spooked a huge fish.
It was very shallow although “I will be back” as Arnold says.
Continued on some different docks and George landed a Black Drumlet!
Continued moving on and the last spot, the first cast BAM, another gorgeous
Snook for Mark, followed by another one for George. My adrenaline was
pumping and I can’t recall, but I think George or Mark might have busted off
two more huge Snook on that spot. Bait was gone and we called it a
day around 3:00. Do you believe that they didn’t catch one Catfish today,
my hero’s! Great day making memories, we had a blast!
