True. FL is on that list as well )can’t really think of a state that isn’t). There are a lot of FL WMAs where the habitat is in great shape. Not all, but a lot. The reasons for those that could use better habitat management from a wildlife perspective don’t always fit your rants though.

dinner island is hands down the best one , but only because they have cows on most of it , wish they would put cows back on trial 5 in the back again .

Don Conyers was the FWC "go to" (now retired) on WMA hunting regulations.  In my years of working with him it was evident that the management of various WMAs was influenced by a number of criteria.  Hunting is definitely impacted by all the other stakeholders using the WMA and in some cases the preferences of the "owner' of the property (can be a water management district, state, federal, or even private arrangement), but there was an effort to divided WMAs into basically three categories, Restricted to protect the resource and with more time for other stakeholders.  These have short hunting sessions and low quotas.  Moderately Restricted to allow more hunting opportunities.  Longer seasons and higher quotas.  And....ROMP AND STOMPS....basically few restrictions and open as long as entire seasons with regular bag limits and rules.

The way to get the rules changed in a specific WMA program is to SUBMIT A RULES CHANGE REQUEST TO THE FWC.  This process can work, we (UW-F) submitted rule change requests for Migratory Bird Hunting expansion on dozens of WMAs and many were granted.  Resulting in some WMAs adding full months of new hunting, especially full seasons for snipe.

thats exactly what i meant     but theres always a fwc apologist to jump up and defend them never wanting to hold anyone accountable.      i see red tide is showing up again better halt all fishing that should fix it.

And this along with the rest of the GWCs "management" is why I have up hunting and fishing in Florida. I've found much better where I go now. It is a days drive but I enjoy it much more.

You will be glad to know that there were a few cows down there on 3/18

Webb has a lot of pretty well managed habitat, although the off road jackasses like to tear the place up (looks like they are working on reducing that problem though).

There’s a few other good ones and some not so good ones in that area of the state as well that I can think of. I’m sure you could as well, if you gave it just a little thought.

Last I saw is that they were trying to close Webb for drive in traffic outside of hunting seasons...

But the damage comes from swamp buggies DURING the season...

mr bandit thinks buggies run over to many snakes    gotta get rid of them.   did you know the effective range of a m/p shield 9mm loaded with snake shot is 5 feet.

Webb and Corbett are the only 2 areas where you can operate buggies anywhere you want in the traditional ways of old Florida. If you want a more pristine landscape then stick with other WMAs.  I wouldnt be able to hunt Corbett very well if it werent for the buggy trails.

Over the past ten years we have lost a huge opportunity to bring lands in to...... first........ public ownership.... reserved from development..... and then..... implement management plans in line with the purposes that the lands were acquired.
At some point, our Governor will need to Engage.
On the other hand , he can remain Absent on this.....rely on his Environmental Consult Susie Wiles.
Trampling over us has proven Easy.
Hunters are present yet relatively uncommon in Florida :wink
