Heading to Cape San Blas With The Fam In Mid April

Experienced East Coast Florida angler, but unfamiliar with this area. How is the beach fishing? Normal croakers, whiting and pomps? Any early topwater for jacks or trout? Lure or bait suggestions would be awesome.
Should I bring a cast net? Is the beach better than the bay? Any guide recommendations?
Any tips would be much appreciated! TIA

I would post on the Northwest Forum.  Think there is a couple of guys that fish that area there.

I live less than a mile from the Cape. I admittly do not do much beach fishing but it can be pretty good at times, all of the normal suspects. There are several spots in and around the state park that have good wade fishing on the bay side. If your looking for a charter are you wanting to go inshore or offshore as i can get you some numbers of some guides.

Thanks Steelandstone. I am thinking inshore, but am open possibly to offshore, but bottom more than trolling - I worked on the boat in my profile pic a million years ago, and trolling was all we did....Yachting with rods!
With a 4-8 hour trip window there, trolling seems iffy. I would really like my sons to meet some members of the Jack family!
