Battery will not charge

My boat is 16 years old.  It has two starting batteries and one devoted solely to the electronics.  I never had an issue with the electronics battery until now.  It will not charge.  At first I thought the brand new battery was defective, and had it replaced.  But the replacement also quickly lost charge.  I have had a lot of work done to get the engine and outdrive back up to snuff, but have no idea if this is related to the new problem.  Unfortunately, I know next to nothing about boat charging systems.

Did you check your selector switch?

Parasitic drain somewhere in system

Install a battery cut off switch, like a Blue Seas switch if you don't have one, turn it off when not using.

Just had this issue, bought new battery and no start. Remove all leads and wire brush or dremmel them, get some new metal on there. Might not be a drain, could just be bad connection.

Probably not the bad connection syndrome, the charge is being lost so it must be going through a wire. He never came back so he disappeared along with his battery charge.

i had issues with my 24 volt system not charging completely..it took me a while but it ended up being bad connections thru the fuse link …corrosion had deteriorated the fuse and wires ..it charged about 60% on my b battery. and 100% on a battery it was the connection to b thru my fuse link

I could not figure this out, and so hired the outfit that overhauled my engine.  Their electrician determined the battery isolator was bad.  He replaced it with the very same model, but now everything works correctly.  It took a while because he came down with the flu and it laid him low for quite a long time.
