Between Ian, the shrimp, a bunch of wrong wind direction days, 2 broke tractors and a bunch of work projects it was only just Tuesday before we made our second trip after gators. Water is high, something that normally allows the gators to stay back in the bushes and eat possums.
But with the water temperature now at about 64 in the main lakes and less than that up in the bushes and small creeks.......there were gators in the warmer water. Though, not many......a problem to be discussed in a different thread at a later time.
Not a giant but plenty for two old guys to handle. And more than a little excitement as he managed to make a 180 around a cypress tree before hitting clear water where we could do something with him. The high water helped in the sense that normally we'd of never been able to get the boat up and around that cypress tree in typical times. And it was still a miracle that we did not lose him while trying to maintain pressure so that the hook held purchase while getting the line out of the knees and off the tree.
Anyway.................10' 4"........... Supposedly the FWC is planning on giving a few extra gator days because if Ian......we'll see.
And yes.....someone stole his foot!
