Is a dust cover needed for 5 pin trailer connector

I just installed a 5 pin trailer connection on my SUV.  When the trailer is not connected to the SUV do you folks put a dust cover over the 5 pin connection to protect it from the elements? 

If yes, is there a dust cover you recommend? 

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Not needed at all - but I'm a high end road warrior, towing my skiff an average of 20,000 miles a year commuting from my home to one ramp or other.  Yes they do make all kinds of "dust covers" if you want one... but I've never seen the need at all...

If you use it a lot I would say no need. If leaving unused for periods of time maybe yes.

Bob, when I lived in Miami I remember frequently seeing you on Florida turnpike headed for Flamingo at 5 am in the morning.  I was headed for bonefish in the Keys, but we had the same mission.  Catch fish.

Just happy to be able to get out on the water... Still going strong - only 74 now...

It can't hurt to cover it.  My Explorer came with a rubber cover that pushes on.
