Red Fish

JaxKayakJaxKayak Posts: 73 Deckhand
Fished the start of the incoming early this morning on the paddleboard and the redfish were fired up. I only had about an hour to fish, but ended up catching 7 lower to mid-slot reds. I have a little flats area that is next to a dropoff and is usually were I find them at low tide. My spot didn't disappoint as when I pulled up there were about 4 reds with their backs out of the water chasing the shrimp around. One actually came fully out of the water sliding along the mud before making the turn back to the water. Nothing better than seeing this and sight casting for them. All in all a great morning.

Also forgot to mention that I got a few on topwater (which was surprising since they were keyed in on the shrimp), but majority on artificial shrimp. Was going to try again in the morning, but we are moving to Clearwater and it looks like tomorrow will be a fun-filled day of packing the house....

Nice report. Went last week and I couldn’t convince a red to bite.
