7/27/2022 To a near shore bottom bit, Pace reef

Craig called late after noon of the 26th. Lets go fishing on Wed. Short notice I call Tileman he in,,no surprise there. Winds were to be out East ,South east and light. WE should have stayed in bed. AS I was going down the canal were I keep my boat we could feel a fairly stiff south wind. Not a good sign, by the time we got to the pace reef it would 2 to 4rs and more, forget anchoring or drifting. .. Headed to fish near Captiva shore just to put a bend in our lines. Catfish ,and short whiting the only fish interested in our chum, Craig did keep one larger one.
Oh well it is still time on the water.

We had the same experience about a week ago. Forecast called for light winds S/SE 7 mph max! We headed out about 15-20 miles and got completely soaked and sore on the way home. It was about 15 mph sustained winds by 1 pm straight South. We did catch some fish tho. Snapper were non-existent but porgies/grunts cooperated well.
