First trip of the season for me. Mostly family with a couple of friends from Jacksonville. Got a good start and hit the bait guy about 7 only to have him tell me he won't sell me bait because I called him a liar last year. Only problem is I didn't buy any bait from him last year, so apparently the guy that owns the boat was the problem. I just agreed to make some repairs and maintain the boat in exchange for using it during the season. He has moved to Costa Rico. No live bait for the day, so we just go with frozen bait. Very calm seas going out and the first half the day. Wind kicked up a bit in the afternoon, but still manageable. I caught a couple of the biggest snappers I've caught in years. Ended up one short of our 7 man limit, but we threw sever legal fish back. We also caught a few of the biggest Triggers I've seen lately, but still out of season. Didn't have time to hit any grouper spots, but then again, no live bait. Did pick up some pretty good Mangrove Snapper before heading in. Still a fun day despite the bait problem.

Outstanding catch Capt! Next time try catching some Grunts or Beeliners and put them down for the Grouper or the Snapper and HOLD ON. Good to see you got it done old school.

Started to do that, but in the interest of time, tried frozen first. Since I was depending on the bait boat for livies, I didn't get any squid, and that works best for grunts, sand perch, etc.
