Little late posting, but had a great two days last weekend out of Panacea.
Rough as a cobb on Friday morning and it was difficult to drift fish with the wind. Just before noon it began to lay, and we commenced to putting 5 limits in the boat along with a brute Red Grouper. A few shorty Gags and shorty Red Grouper were released. Ran home ~50mph with a nice sea.
Overall average size of the ARS were a bit smaller than usual as we hesitated to run out past 85' due to the morning conditions (wet and pounding). We did have 3-4 nice ones though.
Pogies, Squid, Pinfish, etc...mix of bait.
Saturday morning we headed out to a little better (but not great) ocean. We proceeded to put 6 limits in the cooler (our #6 couldn't make it on Friday) along with 2 nice Mangoes, and a big Gag. Released some shorty Red Grouper and Gags. Roughly the same ratio on ARS size as Friday. Just didn't get out past 100' where we figured some bigger fish were lurking. Sunk the spurs into her and headed in at ~50mph again over a flat sea.
Some boat issues may prevent my typical return before the summer season ends, but might make one of the Sept/Oct weekends.
