Scallops 😎

To early to get excited 😜.  Hoping the gas prices keep damasses at bay but not holding my breath.  I’ll expect you locals to tell us how much you hate this time of year (honestly I would too), post the sharks on the flat pics and maybe Nick to give us a scouting report.

We’ll be in CR July 5th thru the 14th!

I like scalloping and all but 9 days of pickup up shells seems a bit much :D

We’ve been doing it for years. Get a house and people drop in and out. Lot of brown glass gets used.

For the folks that don't have yearly launch fee paid it should be "fun" at the ramps. Lined up trying to get registered and pay will cell phone. Or the ones that don't have a bar code reader app on their phone. Should be a good time to sit either at the pavilion at Crystal River ramp or the Shed at McRaes.

Got plenty the first 4 days at Steinhatchee. Went south and just fell in with the crowd. Abundance was about average, easy to get a limit in an hour or so but they were on the small side which probably isn't unusual since it is early and they opened in mid June.

Have not heard good things south of homosassa.   Reports were they were tough to find.

Went scallopeing yesterday south of crystal river. In four hours of snorkeling three divers filled a 5 gal.bucket drifting over the turtle grass in 5 to 6 feet.Size was mixed.Planning on ceviche today.

Went out of CR yesterday. FIT was surprisingly calm. We got a late start but there was still some parking spots in the grass overflow area across the creek. Nobody parked on the side of the road yet at 9:30.
They had a guy in the parking lot making sure people understood how to pay the ramp fee. I was riding with a friend who paid the $75 for the out of county annual pass so it went smoothly.
We had four experienced divers in the water from about 10 am till around 2:30 pm. We moved around a few times. We got about a gallon and a half to 2 gallons of assorted sized scallops in 5 to 7 ft. It was pretty disappointing for the 4th day of the season.

The fleet was out there today...I must have been passed by at least 50 boats while I was catching bait this morning.
