Lasik & Bow hunting

Wow !!!

Just had Lasik done about 3 weeks ago. Amazing results & total outdoor game changer for me. I'm in my 60's and bowhunting was hard with glasses.  Turns out the Lasik fixed my long & intermediate vision. Still use reading glasses on the computer but that's ok.

It's probably not for everybody but it worked out great for me. I had several discussions with multiple doctors before I had my procedure. I was on the fence for 2 years.  My main concern was the complications and change in vision -vs- time.  The procedure was painless and extremely fast (60 Seconds per eye)

I wanted to share that with you guys because it really amplified the outdoor experience.

Best of Luck !

Rudy

Awesome Rudy! Seems like the medical field is continuing to make strides in the vision field. I had cataract surgery two years ago and like you say with the lasik, it’s a game changer. Especially driving in poor conditions. I have 20/20 for distance and with cheap readers I can see some very fine print. It definitely is a game changer for hunting and fishing.

Any changes to low light or night vision?  Always worried my duck hunting will be effected.

I can’t speak to lasik, but the cataract surgery improved my total vision. I used to leave the stand near sunset before the “magic hour” as my vision was cloudy and not sharp. Now I set till dark thirty.

My wife is scheduled for cataract surgery next month.
One eye on the 5th and the other one a couple of weeks later.
I told her about ya'lls praise and happy with the results.
    Made her feel better.

I was told Lasik wouldn't work for me because of astigmatism.

My set-up app't for cataract surgery is May 3.

The big key with cataract surgery is making sure to use the eye drops specifically to the daily schedule. There’s also a couple of different techniques to consider. One uses a scalpel and one uses a laser when they insert the lenses. Insurance coverage usually dictates what method is used. I selected the laser and paid the difference. My sister went the scalpel and I went the laser. We both have similar success.

I have astigmatism and lasik corrected my vision.  I would say I'm overly sensitive to light now.  At night, I have to turn the navi/finder on my boat to the dimmest setting and it still blinds me looking out ahead.  Can't go out during the day without sunglasses anymore either.

Care to elaborate about the eye drops and why they are necessary.  A friend told he never used them and was fine.

They prescribed them with multiple drops in the eye for several days. It was to help with healing and comfort of the eye. They said it was pretty important.

My post Lasik drops consisted 3 different types.
1.Antibiotic (Infection) 7 days supply-- Done
    2.General antibiotic(Pink eye) 7 days supply--- Done
    3. Eye Lube drop Called "Systane Ultra" Use it daily (3 times a day.) My schedule..... morning-lunch-bedtime

I had my procedure about three weeks ago. I do not need the drops any more but I use the eye lube anyways.

    Best of luck !

I know many people that got it. Their only regret was they didn’t do it sooner
