I have a 2008 G3 1756. The steering gets very stiff towards the end of the turn even with the steering disconnected from the motor. I took it out of the motor and cleaned it up but it didn't change anything. The steering box under the console is clocked so that there is a fairly good bend in the cable but it turns smooth for most of the turn.

Is this hydraulic steering or cable?

Seems like its cable.  Did you clean the bore out on the engine.?  
A 12 ga shotgun cleaning rod with a brush could be used to clean out the bore i would think.

I made a cable luber that screws onto the cable, is filled with oil and pressurized with air.  It'll free a partially stuck cable if the strands aren't broken somewhere.  Or replace the cable.

Check the engine, when was the last time you put lithium grease in the pivot shaft and the trim ends
