Ft. Laudederdale Fishing

Hello, I am going down to Ft. Lauderdale this weekend near the inlet and looking to do some fishing. Ideally I want to go inshore and catch snook/tarpon but I am not looking to break the bank. Would you recommend bringing down a rod and gear, or try to find a charter that is looking to add an additional person on their charter? If anyone knows of any charter that do this, it would be greatly appreciated if you could let me know. Also, would it even be worth trying to find spots around the inlet/river to catch fish and what kind of fish can you expect to catch right now?
