Howling and howling describes our recent weather and tomorrow it will be blowing 20 to 30…. so more of the same. Things will calm down towards the end of next week so we all have something to look forward to. For those looking for adventure- the giant tarpon are in the backcountry of Flamingo now…
Hoping to get out this weekend if the weather holds up, its been a while.
LeMay, do you use lures for those big tarpon, or live bait?
I too am hoping to get out in the next calm patch, let's hope it holds up.
Tarpon are hard to hook on lures. All the fish I have released have been in darkness. I did get one once trolling a Crystal Minnow, but my best luck in Fort Lauderdale has been on shrimp. I have also taken them on live mullet, and hear that fresh-cut mullet sittling on the bottom is good for bigger fish( only tried it once with no luck). Down in the keys, I think they use crabs?
