We finally got a break in the wind on a day my wife could go out. So, go out we did.
I went out with Paul on Thursday to find bait. There is a TON of it at the gulf pier. However, it is impossible to get a net on it. I went back Friday and sabikied some. It was small sardines.
So, I hit a couple of spots to sabiki some pins and threads. Got enough for the next day.
I got a bunch of these. Any idea what this is?

Headed out to what has been a really good spot for us in about 125'. This is the second time this winter we've gone there and it has been barren. I'm guessing it's just a summer spot.
Went back to a bit shallower (110') and putted around until we marked some fish. It was on fire. All ARS though. The big ones were coming up to hit the flat line. We pulled a bunch of really healthy ones out but, alas, they are endangered..... So, back in the drink.
We did get a couple of nice mangs.
The bite eventually slowed so we moved on. We noticed the current picked up which I'm guessing shut down the bite. The rest of the day was really really slow. We caught grouper everywhere we went, but only 1 to keep. The grouper bite was really weird. Least aggressive I've ever felt. They were just sort of there. And, they were dead weight coming up. Not a bit of fight to them. We marked a ton of fish that I'm assuming were snapper but they appeared to have lockjaw. The entire afternoon was really slow.
We ended up with 3 decent mangs and 1 red grouper. Tossed back a few smaller mangs and lanes. Not a stellar day but it sure was nice to get out. The weather was as good as you could hope for. A little breezy coming back but not bad.
