My fav type of fishing is sheepshead fishing. They fight really well, you don’t have to go very far to catch them, regulations allow you to keep them year round, and man, they are tasty!
A type of fishing I’m looking to get into this year is long-casting from the beach for mackerel, jacks, and blues, and perhaps a tarpon, Bonita or king. One of the latter would be sweet 👍🏼
I fish from boat, Kayak, and from the surf. I prefer offshore drop fishing. then inshore grass flats. Kayak is sometimes too much work. Surf fishing can be great because I can just grab a rod and some frozen shrimp and be fishing in 15 mins. drawback is if the fish aren't there it's a pain to pick up and move trying to find them. I tend to go in seasons. The winter is too windy, cold and choppy so I tend to go surf fishing. while water temps are warming up I like the grass flats. When weather is good April, May , June, and July I try to get offshore as much as possible. People who say they don't like Florida because it doesn't have 4 seasons don't know what they are talking about.
