Went out on the kayak again. Went to a spot a found last week that I missed a bunch. Caught a few doz mangrove and fiddlers for bait and got to some bridge pylons. Then I started scraping barnacles.
Did that for about 2 hours in one spot figuring I would attract something and only got 2 bites 😑 Started to bump pylons to see if I could get anything more consistently.
Got to one spot and it was as fast as I could get a bait down. Problem was they were all less than 10” with one prob being less than 6”. Smallest sheep I ever saw. Moved to some more pylons.
Found another pylon with the same action except these were all 11” or so. Figured there’d be a couple keepers. Nope. Got to my last bait which was a massive mangrove crab. Busted it in half because it was so big. Put it next to a pylon and felt a thump. Set the hook and it took me for a little ride! Whole time I was stressing because it was such a small hook 😅
After about a 5 minute battle, finally got it in the yak

PB black drum! Measured 24” and 6.39 lbs. Stoked!
