2/8 PE Tuna frenzy

Black fin Tuna were biting late afternoon just south of the port, 125-250', they were everywhere.   We picked up our limit of ten in a little over an hr trolling

Nice! What was the bait/lure if you don’t mind me asking?

4" cedar plug, small silver spoon on a #2 planar, and small bullet lures behind a chain of weighted rubber squids.  Our rigged ballyhoo did not get hit at all. 1/2 of the tuna were 5-8 lbs and the other 1/2 were 3 lbs. Sometimes we put the plug behind a Mold Craft bird teaser or a set of wooden bird teasers.

interesting, nice work! id like to get some tuna as well... sounds like you were in the same area i fish often off dania pier. i usually troll live gogs off a motorized kayak. last couple times out ive gotten not much.

I usually fish early mornings as opposed to afternoon but might start changing things up to afternoon/evening.

Cranker, those smaller Tuna are usually feeding on very small baits and moving around pretty fast. Usually you will see birds on them. You have to be able to guess which way they are headed and get ahead of them so you don't spook them to sound. Not sure your kayak is quick enough for that but you can try. As O said, the small bullet lures work good as they are closer in size to the "hatch".they are feeding on.
