We lost a good guy, Dan Clymer

Yesterday on Facebook, Dan’s family listed that Dan had died. I know many on this forum knows him or knows about him. I just wanted to put this out. It’s sad.

They posted it on his website the other day too. Very sad to hear it.

He fought hard and will be greatly missed by many. We were lucky enough to have spent a little time with him on the water years ago. One of the best fisherman I’ve ever met and as professional and friendly as can be. Prayers to all the family and those who knew him. RIP Captain Dan

It sucks, he was a very close friend. Taught me how to shallow water grouper fish and gave me lots of numbers to get me started, and also to just be a good person. Life will not be the same without Red Dan on the radio and hanging out listening to him play. Poor Becky. I was lucky to call him a friend and fish with him one last time, which was also the last report he posted on his site. Heaven gained a great one.

Yes, it's sad. The fishing community lost one of it's legends.
I moved here from south FL and never knew you trolled for grouper. I saw something written by Dan about trolling and was hooked. I read any and all material he ever did. He was that kind of fisherman. He shared
his knowledge. I finally got to meet him in person and I will never forget that day. Most guides try not to give away much about their fishing. Not Dan. He started giving me advice right away. The man had character. He fought the cancer right to the end. I saw he was still out fishing up into December. We have a spot that we fish. It's called "Dan's Wreck". Next time we go there we will give a toast to celebrate a true legend and great man. Thanks Dan

a class act all the way.
I am glad to only be a bird hunter with bird dogs...being a shooter or dog handler or whatever other niche exists to separate appears to generate far too much about which to worry.

There are few men that you always hear positive things about. He was one.

This is very sad to hear. I am sorry for his family who lost a great man. Dan battled hard just like the way he fished. I'm happy he was able to make some trips out west while he was able to fish different styles and waters. He taught me a lot about CR area fishing and as others said was not against sharing tips. God rest his soul.

I can only support the comments from ya'll who knew him better.

I talked to him once while buying gas and was so impressed that he was so helpful about fishing.

    Wow!
