Looks like we'll be getting temps like we haven't seen in a while, and they've been holding pretty low for a few days now. anyone seeing any impact to the snook or any other fish?
I am glad to only be a bird hunter with bird dogs...being a shooter or dog handler or whatever other niche exists to separate appears to generate far too much about which to worry.

I hear Waccasassa had dead ones on the last hard freeze.
yea i have to imagine points there and west around Cedar Key, and up thru the hatch lost some of stock. at least it didnt stay too cold for too long. hopefully the rest of us to the south can say we had a good winter, if there really is such a thing!
Saw a dead one laying on the bottom out at Cedar Key off Atsena in about 18" of water last Saturday, was about 36" long. No floaters to be found anywhere else that day. I heard of some floaters in the Wac river. I'd like to do some exploring down there but the big negative winter low tides tell me that's not a good idea for some reason.

keep going south. the water clears up just s of CR and you have a lot less chance of hitting something. Or as I bet you know, that's a great reason to go pepperfish and points n as well. the s range is doing really well with snook tho

You are correct about Waccasassa. The winter lows get so low that I have seen a puddle as big as a garbage can lid at the channel marker. I love those days. Watch out for speed bumps (logs) in the river.
