Navionics card upgrade for Humminbird Helix 9

GatorCityGatorCity Posts: 335 Deckhand
IMO the mapping on the Humminbirds are awful (at least for the big bend area).  Is it worth it for a Navionics card upgrade?  It seems Cedar Key is kind of the cut-off point and sometimes I like to fish north into the Hatch, etc.  so that may be another issue.  The GOM card for FL is Cedar Key and south.
The current mapping doesn't even have channel markers loaded.

I have both Lowrance and Raymarine units and run Navionics 632 Platinum+ cards in both. The actual northern edge actually goes a few miles to the north of Horseshoe Beach. If you right click on the photo and then open in a new tab, it will be easier to see.

All channel markers are correct and easily seen as you zoom in. This is Cedar Key. (Sorry about my camera glare)

MY WORST FEAR......THAT WHEN I DIE MY WIFE WILL SELL ALL MY BOATS & FISHING GEAR FOR WHAT I TOLD HER I PAID FOR IT.......

I may not always agree with what you say,

SaltyDawg44, thanks so much, that helps a lot!  Significant improvement over what is currently loaded on my machine.  For less than $200 I think it will be worth it.  The standard mapping is pretty useless for actual navigation.
