Red tide around CK?

The current Red Tide status shows a high concentration in one of the samples near CK are there any signs of it anybody has seen?

I don’t know about CK, but last Friday off of Suwannee in about 15 ft of water, the fish were a little weird acting.

Water had a bunch of dead fish floating. Thought maybe they were the dead fish I heard about blowing up the coast. However, I then saw some other fish like whiting, sea robins and croakers swimming very slowly and on their side. I have never seen the effects of red tide, so wasn’t sure.

Yes there is a patchy red tide in CK and it actually the covers the entire west coast of FL currently. There have been some fish kills in the Big Bend area, but nothing widespread currently. All the clam leases and oystering from CK to Horseshoe have been shut down due to it. What you saw Rev was definitely the affects of red tide. Bottom fish are typically impacted (whiting, croakers, batfish, etc) the most. It has been in the area for 4 weeks now and will probably be an on again off again problem until we get some consistent cold weather.

The inshore/nearshore fishing in CK has not been impacted one bit as I can tell and the Fall bite has been hot. Don't know about offshore as I mostly am inshore. The red tide has not impacted Waccasassa, Withlacoochee or the Citrus County area so far.

Went as far as seahorse reef a couple weeks ago and no sign of bad water anywhere. Fishing was great.

bad further north, crabs in traps dead..

I am glad to only be a bird hunter with bird dogs...being a shooter or dog handler or whatever other niche exists to separate appears to generate far too much about which to worry.
