Boca fins Sunday Oct 10

Once again the weather man cannot get the forecast right even a day in advance. Solid 15 NW to N all day but oh well...
Stopped on some nice patches in 600 after getting some pilchards in the inlet. Trolled up 2 decent fins, biggest probably 10lbs. Trolled that area in and out for a while w only a small blackfin to show for it.
Heard of some nice weeds at the 51 so headed out and sure enough, some boats and big patches/line.
Caught 5 more over the next couple hours then headed in around 1:30 but still had bait in the well.
At around 170 ft there were a couple really big patches so we threw some scouts over and sure enough fins show up!
We caught 5 and lost 2 at the boat. Just schoolies but fun and yummy.

Great Job and good report.  Help out the inshore guy, what does "at the 51" mean?

51 line is ur lat long...for example, this is for Boca 26.3683° N, 80.1289° W
The longitude decreases as u go east....so it will go down to 79.51 which is about 14 miles off

Thank you very much, hear it all the time and could never figure out what they were referring to.

Also know that the "51" line (51.000 to the 52.000) is about 1 mile wide (4800 feet), ...so unless someone gives u more numbers it could be a mile wide "area"

Thank you although a mile in the ocean isn't much, it gives me a start.
