Not as much bait activity at the surface.  Got to see a porpoise do some aggressive rounding up and bashing of lunch across the water next to Hog Island.

FIsh wise, finger mullet and mud minnows were easy w/ my new net (1/4" mesh), some sand perch and a few short (like 8") trout were caught, some big drum were seen tailing, and we caught some larger catfish.  Saw others catching similar all day, and one guy did get a nice 26" black tip shark.

In all I'm happy - my gear all worked, my rod got bent and I got to spend time w/ my oldest.

It is almost at Cedar Key, Lower Suwanee National Refuge.

Depending on where you are coming from you either go thru Chiefland and then take the back roads thru the refuge (turn Right onto CR 330, it turns into CR 347) or come out on SR 24 and turn Right onto CR347 (it is the last big curve on SR24 before you get into Cedar Key).  Once you are on 347, turn onto CR 326 and follow it until the pavement ends at the camp ground.  Then take the rock road down to the boat ramp and pier.

Note that a few miles from the end of the pavement on the way in there is a small creek you cross.  Loaded with blue crabs and mud minnows.

As you drive down the dirt/lime rock road to the dock/boat ramp, look for the cuts on the waters edge that have some clear space around them, etc. Those are good spots for my cast net, as is the boat ramp area itself especially the grassy area with clear spots on the right of the ramp area.
