Trout and Reds MIA

6 June  2021...Wabasso/Vero...Quest for the purple tag.  No tag today, did not see a Red all day.  Started and finished the day at Hobart Landing.  Morning run, a 14 “ Grouper and a 17 inch Little Ugly.  Afternoon stop, an 11 “ Mutton Snapper and a 25 “ Snook.  Snook was nothing but pure mean.  Reviving her on my thumb, she smacked it and drew blood before swimming off,  Next stop, the Rock Pile.  Hoping for a Trout of bigger Grouper.  Nothing but short Snapper.  Grand Harbor, the BVi Yacht moved to another berth, favorite stretch of dock open.  Nothing but Ladies and short Snapper today.  Pair of shaky moments, Spinner Shark went sky walking twice behind the boat.  Past the Golf Cart Bridge, slow.  Picked a couple of Heddon lures out of the Mangroves.   Bethel Creek, playing with a school of big Pin Fish, surprise, a 4 pound plus River Tuna shot out from under the Mangroves.  Took a while to get it in, drag was set for Trout fishing, very light.  Skipping docks slow, Sheepshead not in the mood, no Snook and a few short Snapper.  Johns Island/Vero, slow walking a Baby Vudu on the bottom, light tap.  Solid hook set, fun time trying to keep the Snook out of the Mangroves.  She made it in 3 times, but with low water easy getting her back out.  28.5 inches, good for a CCA entry.  Spotted a Tarpon under the Mangroves, good skip cast, bump.  Hook set waiting for a jump.  Little uglies don’t jump.  North run to the Pine Island ICW cut.  Hoping to find a Trout, not happening today,  Picked up the third ugly for the day.  Snook dock did not disappoint, picked up three in the 19 inch range, and pulled the hook on a couple of more.  Captains log showed 31 fish for the day, all caught on the Baby Vudu Shrimp.  All players released for future encounters.  Quit at 1815, old age getting to me.  Hoping for a better day next week.
