New outboard 5-29-21

Well it was finally time to put my old Honda 225 out to pasture. It's been a great motor for 15 years but was getting a bit long in the tooth. Just had a brand new Tohatsu 250 installed. It's really just a rebranded Honda 250. I am still in the break-in process. I'll let you know how it runs. Got it just in time for the new dive season.

I  rode with some two strokes that were nice motors. Bet the four strokes are even better.

Starting at 150 hp, all of the Tahatso engines are Hondas.  The parts are even stamped Honda.  Butch's engine is the same as my Honda 250D.  They are sweet motors.  Quiet and fuel-efficient.

Looks great on the back of your boat. I'm sure it will take you on many fishing and diving adventures.

What is the difference in the price between the two brands?

As Doc said the Honda 250D and the Tohatsu 250D are the exact same engine, just different paint and decals. The Tohatsu quote was $19,000 which included tax, mounting and rigging. I added a NMEA 2000 backbone and an all in one digital gauge for another $900.00. The quote from the Honda dealer was about $22,000 with controls but not including tax, mounting or rigging.

Who is a Beg Bend Tahatso engine dealer? My 2000 150 Merc that runs well should probably be replaced.

Citrus Marine on Grover Cleveland in Homosassa. I got first class service and they got my new engine installed ahead of schedule. Great folks to do business with and very competitive pricing.

Thanks Butch, I'll check in with them. What I' finding, at least here in Ocala at Miller's they are having ordered boats come in without engines because they can't get them in.

Pretty much all of the new outboards are fantastic.   I love my Suzuki.   Powerful, quiet, and they hate gasoline.   We spent a week in marathon and used 39 gallons.  We would have used more but the weather was kind of crappy still we went out every single day on the boat.
