Info on Waccasassa

Hey folks , Was wondering if anyone and done a lot of fishing is this area. Its my closest gulf ramp but Ive had very limited luck fishing there. Best Ive done is fall time in the creeks. As for other times it seems as if you can go South towards Yankee Town or North up to Cedar Key but not much right around that area. Any hints or info would be appreciated !

Only time to fish inside was during colder weather, otherwise as you stated, you head south and into some of the bays on high tides for reds. Head west after clearing the bars towards Cedar Key for trout and reds around the bars.  Water is fairly dirty around the mouth so usually have to go out some to get into the fish during this time of year

There are some deep holes out in Wacasassa bay that seem to be cobia gathering spots at times, but other than that I too have had very limited success fishing out of there. The river can be a treacherous run and the ramp (unless you're a member of the private club out there) kinda sucks as well.

Not my favorite place to launch.

Hey tankered. Yea I joined the fish club out there just to avoid the chaos at the public ramps on weekends but have found the fishing tough but good in the fall and winter back in the creeks. It takes me about 25 to 30 mins to get to the islands North of Yankeetown where Ive fished for years but have not made the trip to Cedar Key yet. Have a jet drive so Im not the fastest guy around thats for sure.  lol.

"Not the fastest" beats "busted prop and \ or lower unit" every time!

Fall, winter, and spring are best there. The water gets hot in the summer and there are lots of catfish. The club should be a good place with people looking out for each other. My boat won’t be out of the shop for a month or more so I will join the club shortly. I have been a member there before and caught a lot of fish there.
