Headed out Saturday morning with Joe Caleb and Chuck. Pretty rough ride going out. Fished between 120 and 140ft.
Great crew that put 35 triggers 15 bliners and got 3 mahi off a school that rolled up on us. Porgy's have been few and far between but the red snapper were relentless all day. Ride coming back in was very comfortable.

What did the mahi schoolies eat?  We had a a bunch swimming around the boat at 160 ft, but couldn't get them to sniff live grunts, squid or lures.

I usually throw cut bait at them.

When you have schoolers come up to the boat start throw and chucks of bait you have to **** the water. If you hook one get him close to the boat and leave him in the water. This will keep the school by the boat.

We didn't have any live bait either on the mahi. We chummed the water with as much cut bait we had on the deck.
Three pitch rods all rigged with flourocarbon leader thats the most important part. One rigged with whole squid, one with bucktail jig tipped with squid tentacles and the last with an inshore jerk bait. Normally one of those will generate a hookup even if they being picky. Would have loved to have live cigars or spanish that makes it ten times easier.
