Anyone have a Shallow Sport 24' Mod V ?

JH64JH64 Posts: 45 Deckhand
I'm in SW FL. I have a 16' action craft that I use to fish Matlacha Pine Island area and was looking for something that could still use in very shallow water and have the ability to fish inside the gulf by Boca Grande Pass . I was looking at at a Shallow Sport 24' Mod V with a t-top and platform. Does anyone have experience with this boat that could provide some feedback? My one issue with it is that it sits 8'9" out of the water and our bridge is 9' at high tide, so it's going to be tight, but I like the option of being as high out of the water as I can for sight fishing.

Don’t own one, but one of my buddies did, and I fished on it many times. It will definitely get shallow, and will do fine on the GOM on decent days. He sold his a couple years ago to down size to a 16’ skiff, since he fished alone a lot.

There is a guide near melbourne that I fished with once that I think ran one.  It runs shallow and he took it out of sebastian inlet often which can be pretty sporty.  I dont know how well it actually handles the gulf chop though.

as always any hull is a compromise

I'm not sure that's in the same class as a shallow sport as far as the convertible hull and ability to take out to open water.
