To Pedal or to Peddle ??

gogittumgogittum SW New MexicoPosts: 2,214 Captain
Please guys.....not going to point a finger but almost every day I see where someone says they "peddle" their kayak out to somewhere.  Did you take it there to sell it ??

If you move your kayak with a foot powered drive, you likely "pedal" it.  If you want to sell it, you "peddle" it.

Not a big thing, but if you're going to enjoy your kayak, you should know the difference.  End of rant.

Thanks,I did not know we had an English teacher among us!  Spell checker does not catch that one, I will take credit for peddling my kayak at times when it's not for sale.  Apology, I will try not to sell it when I am traveling somewhere.

My comments weren't a slam on anybody - intended as a heads-up only.  I've seen quite a few on this forum make that mistake, but if I've noticed it you can bet others have, too.  (to, too, two - 'nuther one)

Going to submit a note to dictionarydotcom to get this changed.
If 'subposebly' can get incorporated, so can peddle
The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles.

Seriously, I've never understood the social stigma attached to a grammar **** far in excess of the illiterate's mistake.  I guess I come from that era when a single "gross illiteracy" on a 10th grade essay earned you an "F."
Thanks to Gogittum for pointing this out.  As a guilty party, I appreciate it.

They're taking a lot of heat for pedaling their kayaks over there so they can peddle them.

I'm amazed at the mileage this thread is getting.  Never was my intent at all.  Oh well.
