Fort Lauderdale offshore Kayak fishing 2 March 2021

I started late, launching off Fort Lauderdale beach park just after Sunrise.  I had no luck catching bait on the transit out to the deeper wrecks.  Initially, the current was weak, about 0.5kts Nth.  The bite was slow.  Around 11am the current picked up to about 1.2kts North and the fish started biting.  The action was in 200-300ft of water.

I rarely get doubleheaders, but yesterday I got two.  One of them briefly giving me a sley ride while a shark was holding onto one of the Almaco Jacks.  Taxes paid.

Most of the fish were released to fight again another day.  Around noon the wind shifted and by 1pm the current was cranking 2.7kts Nth.  It was way too fast for kayak fishing so I had to head in, beaching around 3pm.
