Captiva in April

We rented a home on Captiva in April and am curious about the fishing that time of year.  Typically we come down in September and have had success on the beaches for Tarpon and Snook.  What should I be targeting in early April?   Our house has a dock opposite  the entrance of braynard bayou and I'll have my L4Expedition paddle board.

There will be 5 little ones all under 6 with us and would love to sit on the dock and catch some fish.  Are snapper around that time of year?  If not what can we expect back there?

Thanks for any intel.

I was fishing in Ding Darling today and it was snook heaven. Best I landed was 27" but lost 2 that were at least that big probably bigger one broke me off in the mangroves after towing me in there too lol. Not really a shore fishing place though kayak/canoe only.

Thanks.  I have an L4 Paddleboard I'm planning on taking down there one morning.

    What were you fishing with?

    I was using a 3" DOA paddletail.

Ding is great for paddle craft or shore fishing. Small paddletails and vudu shrimp work great. And by April the snook should start showing up on the beaches and will definitely be in the passes. I'm sure you can get some snapper off the dock on some live shrimp and possibly reds and snook out of the mangroves around your dock.
