Captain Tony's Fort Myers Beach

Went fishing this weekend on Captain Tony’s out of Fort Myers Beach. Had a great time catching an assortment of smaller fish such as grunts, Porgy’s, sand perch, flounder, puffers, short red and gag grouper and even a pork fish. All of a sudden while reeling up  another small fish, something hammered my line and it was game on. Having no idea what it could be at this point and using only a 2.0 circle hook and 25lbs leader I was not very confident I would ever see what was stripping line so easily.

After about 15-20 minutes and circling the boat once, everybody else on the boat had either pulled their lines up or were cut by the mates so I could continue fighting whatever was down there.

Finally, we saw color and at only 20 miles out it was a huge 48 inch Amberjack.

After a few pictures he was sent back to the Gulf.

Thanks for your report it is always good to hear what kind of action can be had close in.  That is one heck of a catch on  such light line and tackle. One more dose of the vaccine and I will back on the water.
Captain's Tony`s boat looks like a nice clean rig to fish off.
