Trout Improving

24 Feb 2021...Wabasso/Johns Island...Straight run to Hobart Landing.  First fish of the day, an 18 inch Trout, followed by a pair of 17 inch Trout.  Moved out a little and hit a 21 inch Lady followed by a 3 pound Jack.  Baby Vudu Shrimp working overtime.  Left to work the channel edges and flat hoping to turn a big Trout.  Nothing but overgrown Ladies and Sail Cats.  Gave up. Flats boat blew out the flat in front of me, guess that he didn’t know what the channel was for.  Next stop Grand Harbor.  Could not get under the Golf Cart Bridge, so worked the channel.  Another slot Trout and a few short Snapper.  Hooked into an oversized Jack (River Tuna Class), cut off on an old Mangrove root.  Quick run to the Secret Hole.  Not much happening.  A 13 inch Spanish Mackerel, first step towards another T-shirt.  Need a Mangrove Snapper and a Snook to complete the slam.  Snapper, easy pickings in Bethel Creek.  Snook was a little difficult, but did find one.  Working the docks for Snook, boated a Lookdown.  Nothing in the Estuary.  Johns Island/Vero slow. Still no Sheepshead.   Lost a big Trout, too much pressure, pulled the hook.  Maybe there is a comeback for Trout, this section was one of my go to tournament spots for Trout, it has been dead for the last several years.  Back out to Hobart.  Ladies were super active.  Getting in my practice for Tarpon this Spring.  All players released for future encounters.
