Best location for multiple fishing types

Hi all, I am pretty green to fishing in FL. I have been on the hunt for a location that has fairly close access for grouper/snapper/trigger to fill the freezer as well as some pelagic species to go after on good days. Trying to find an affordable location I can start learning, and enjoy different types of fishing throught the years. I see Destin and Pensacola is close to the 100 fathom curve, and seems like a good area. Any advice and suggestions would be appreciated!

It does, but cost of living and housing is much higher too. I am looking for a spot I can afford to make fishing a habit!

Elk... the days of “filling the freezer” are long over for most of us here in Florida... I’ve been a full time guide now for 25 years and I have no trouble with my anglers keeping fish for the table - and I carefully clean and package their catch when desired... That said, most that I know would strongly discourage keeping more than is needed for a meal or two...

In short that’s the only way we’ll be able to pass the fishing we enjoy on to our kids...

Where I work as a guide is mostly in Everglades National Park-and the rules there are more restrictive than the state’s rules...

I agree with you there Lemay, and I dont really want to fill the freezer. I should have phrased that differently. I was saying I would like to be able keep some of the fish I know I like. Especially a couple different species, to enjoy for variety.

You can consult a fishing prediction app and then be guided by nearby spots, normally, some fish tend to stay in a close radius, at least from my experience.

They're all great but I am partial to Marathon.

Bigger island, has more stuff, probably slightly cheaper.

As far as fishing I’m partial to Key West. But what the city has become I don’t love my hometown anymore.
