Got out early hoping to get a few hours in before the weather set in. Started East of the inlet in 70'. Nothing really there but thought we'd drop in early and see if we could find a king or something. Nothing around and trolled out to about 225'. Started working north and then headed toward shallower water; picked up 4 Bonita so at least we weren't bored. At 200' found a color change and trolled that a bit. No bait around at all. Took advantage of the calm seas and found a nice current rip around 165' and headed north. After a few minutes we spot some mahi and hook into a triple. Definitely fun considering it was just my wife and I. We got all 3 into the boat, nothing huge but decent fish. Came back for another couple of passes and picked up #4 and #5. On the final pass we hook another double but we lose both; sore subject so enough said.
The shot gun was the most active today with the two outriggers running a close second. They seem to want ballyhoo with small shiny mylar skirts. Pulled some bonita strips all day in the spread and not a single strike.
